Installation advices for blocks and gratings

Advice for the correct installation of Favaro1 flooring.

BLOCKS

Solid blocks flooring is defined as self-locking as it creates a system of concrete elements, laid dry on a bed of crushed stone/sand and dry sealed with fine dry sand, capable of developing an effective distribution of surface loads across the surface. of support and the friction generated in the joints. The following diagram illustrates a typical section of a self-locking block flooring: the definitions are those reported in the national regulations.

1 – Curb: sequence of perimeter elements having the function of containing and opposing the thrust exerted by the blocks.

2 – Joint: gap existing between solid wood and solid wood laid adjacently and between these and the surrounding elements and/or inserted in the paved area.

3 – Covering: finishing layer having the function of giving the flooring certain mechanical, chemical, physical, ergonomic, aesthetic, durability characteristics and performances, etc.

4 – Installation setting: adequately leveled constant thickness layer with the function of receiving the self-locking cladding elements.

RECYCLE®

Given the excellent permeability of Recycle® and its good storage capacity, the flooring can be laid in a perfectly horizontal manner because no slope is necessary for the conveyance of rainwater to the receiving bodies. Furthermore, the blocks are laid in adherence, without sealing the joints, allowing large surfaces to be created without an apparent solution of continuity. Even the creasing of the flooring is a simple and almost invisible element: a steel plate inserted into the ground is sufficient to contain the gravel and protect the edge of the blocks.

GRATINGS BLOCKS

Prepare an adequate support surface for the substrate, leveled and compacted, and above it lay a bedding or fill layer composed of alluvial or crushed sand with a thickness of 3-5 cm. The grilled elements are laid directly on the leveled sand bed, the cavities and spaces between the joints are filled with suitable material to allow grassing, with a thickness approximately 2-3 cm greater than the surface of use. Finally, the flooring is compacted through the use of appropriate equipment. In order to avoid bending breakages of the grating elements, the flooring can only be considered usable after this operation. As regards installation on embankments, slopes or roadsides, particular attention must be paid to the installation layer, which must be made up of draining and at the same time stable materials during the implementation of the intervention and the use of the flooring. In case of steep slopes, the use of containment or ground anchoring elements is recommended.
