When we talk about sustainability, it’s easy to stay at the level of good intentions. At Favaro1, we wanted to go one step further: take a concrete action that aligns with the values guiding our work. That’s why we chose to adopt a beehive through Beeing, relying on a beekeeper from their network in Romagna, at the beekeeping company Energia dai Fiori (Forlì).
In this article, we share what Beeing is, who Energia dai Fiori are, and why this choice represents— for us—an authentic way to talk about positive impact.
Why Talk About Bees Today (and Why It Matters to Companies Too)
Bees are not “just” honey producers: they are sentinels of biodiversity and an indicator of ecosystem health. Protecting them means supporting the balance between nature, agriculture, and quality of life—also in urban settings.
Thanks to pollinators, many wild plants are able to survive and renew themselves, which sustains entire ecosystems. More plants mean more habitats and more food for other animals—creating a richer and more stable natural network. In addition, pollination supports the genetic diversity of plants, making them more resilient and better able to adapt to change. And it’s not only about “wild” nature: many agricultural crops we depend on every day (fruit, vegetables, seeds) need animal pollination to produce abundant, high-quality harvests.
For a company, joining projects linked to pollinators is a way to:
- contribute to a concrete environmental cause;
- support local economies and responsible supply chains;
- activate paths of culture and awareness (internally as well).
What Beeing Is: A Reality That Protects Pollinators
Beeing is a project born with a clear mission: to protect bees by supporting responsible beekeeping. From their approach, four main directions emerge:
- simplifying urban and hobby beekeeping with B-BOX, a hive redesigned for urban contexts;
- supporting responsible beekeeping through a beehive adoption program;
- creating urban apiaries to raise awareness of the importance of bees;
- helping beekeepers with tools and remote monitoring (sensor technology).
In addition, Beeing also works strongly on education: apiary experiences, training activities, and initiatives dedicated to both individuals and companies.
Energia dai Fiori (Forlì): The Story of a Beekeeping Company
Beehive adoption is designed to be simple, but not merely “symbolic”: the goal is to truly support those who care for bees and to involve people in the journey.
For our adoption, we chose Energia dai Fiori, a beekeeping business active on the outskirts of Forlì, linked to the Scozzoli family.
It is a long-standing beekeeping tradition, with an activity that has grown generation after generation. Today, the company manages around a thousand hives, continuously moving them across the territories of their farm, the Forlì plain, and the valleys of the Montone, Rabbi, and Bidente rivers, in the hilly areas of the province. Considering that each hive contains a colony, and each colony includes between 80,000 and 100,000 individuals, the Scozzoli “family” is an extended one—nearly one hundred million living beings.
The company’s goal has always been to obtain safe, natural products that are not altered either chemically or physically.
Why Favaro1 Joined: Values, Consistency, and Real Impact
At Favaro1, we work every day on projects that have a tangible impact on outdoor spaces and, as a result, on how people experience cities, public places, and work environments. For us, sustainability means:
- choosing directions that improve, over time, the contexts in which we operate;
- promoting care for natural resources and the local territory;
- supporting initiatives that generate culture, not just communication.
Adopting a beehive felt perfectly consistent with this approach because it is a concrete action, it supports local skills and businesses, it turns sustainability into an experience, and it speaks about biodiversity in a simple, accessible language.
